About Copy Systems
Copy Systems, Inc. was started by William (Bill) and Ann Marie (Nancy) Zimmerman in center city Philadelphia. The business specialized then in providing liquid toner coin-operated Olivetti copiers to public libraries, post offices schools and colleges within the tri-state area.
Office equipment technology was changing as dry toner copiers replaced wet toner copiers, personal and small business fax machines became available and the first stored-value card (debit card) system became available for small value copy purchases.
To change with these times, the Zimmermans' purchased a larger building on Oxford Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia and became a full line Sharp Office Equipment Dealership offering excellent sales and service of office equipment in addition to the vended copiers that started the business 8 years prior.
Bill Zimmerman had an idea to use the office equipment available to him, purchase a printing press and to open the doors on Oxford Avenue to the public as a retail copy and quick printing shop offering everything from business cards and letterheads to full color flyers and brochures.
The Zimmerman's son, David (Dave) who was a part time employee for many years was brought on as the Operations Manager of both the printing and the office equipment/copier vending divisions. In addition, Copy Systems became a Savin (now Ricoh) dealership and added that product line to its retail products list.
Copy Systems was joined by Joseph "Jay" Shire, who was formerly with Rayshire, Inc. and Excel Document Solutions. He has added a strong technical background to the sales and service departments.
